    Ordered T-Mobile home 5G internet but did not expect much as I live in very rural area. It surprisingly worked great over first month it worked so well that we dumped Starlink. Starlink was always out in rain and buffering more regularly than ever before. T-Mobile is rock solid

      No, my $35 monthly payment is still significantly better than the $120 alternative because of recent financial changes. Sure, they introduced throttling; Starlink already had it as well.

    I ordered mine as a redundant backup to my fibre line. It is worth every penny, and the only problem I have is that the router is in bypass mode and should have a public pingable IP address for VPN usage. I'm even having trouble setting up a VPN, site to site, using TP-Link Omada routers with both on the Starlink system. I have both locations using ddns, and I plan to accomplish a site-to-site VPN with this. If anyone has had any luck, I'd love some pointers. I may try a client-to-site VPN for now.

    • @TayandKay
      @TayandKay 8 месяцев назад

      My only problem with that, and Starlink, is that it is an expensive backup line. When I had Spectrum, my line was $80 for 500 down.

    There are some negatives with the T Mobile service at least in my area... during the day I get decent speed of downloads in range of between 30-50 MBPS most days... upload has always been poor at around 1 MBPS... but at least I was able to rid myself of Hughes Sat... which was very slow and expensive. Most all T Mobile Home 5 G customers notice great speeds the first month they have service.... then they do something with computer software to throttle the speeds once you decide past the 15 day trial period. Most customer service tech support will tell you it's about capacity and the T Mobile policy of giving the cell phone usage priority. It could be a very great service if they had the ability to provide the bandwidth needed. But more customers, less bandwidth to give each. Only good thing that is constant is they don't limit data used. My two towers that my device links to never give 5G signal... only LTE as I am very rural.

    • @bossadams593
      @bossadams593 6 месяцев назад

      Your exactly right on the throttling. My speeds were as he described 200-300 the 3 weeks. Then it just took a shit. 90 max during business hours then after 3 to 4 pm I'm down sometimes to 1.8 to 6 mbps. Then after 1am back to lightning speeds. With the tmobile 5g home internet gateway. Their all a joke. May try the starlink hope they don't do the same thing after the 30 day trial period. I'll pay the $120 for constant 100mps or slightly lower speeds. Anything thats consistently over 60mbps all the time I'll deal with.

    In about 6months they will have infinity here in my rural area. Should I wait. I got viasat and it sucks. Or should I get star link now

    • @TayandKay
      @TayandKay 8 месяцев назад

      If Comcast is definitely coming in, please wait for that. I am unsure if your area is open or you must join a waiting list. The waiting list may take longer anyway. Another alternative would be to look at the Tmobile home internet or Verizon. Starlink is great, but it is expensive, especially now.

    I like your testimonial ... Im moving from Delray Beach to rural Lake City which means cable is on the other side of the highway with no hopes of a under=pavement shot. I am an old guy and enjoy watching cable all day MSN Business all morninDish? g then Price is Right then The Five then Payne at 2p Kudlow at 4 sports at night ... point is can a platform support "cable" channels? Of course I would Star-Link but how can I watch beyond just internet to get cable tv? Thoughts? Direct TV Dish? Im not an expert.

    I live in a rural area in Florida, I have both Starlink and get 120Mb+ down and with T-Mobile I get anywhere from 20 to 150+Mb down. I pay $120 with Starlink and $55 with T-Mobile, I am about 3/4 of a mile from the tower. The problem with T-Mobile is I live in the woods and get poor signal. The only problem I have had is it is slow on week ends with T-Mobile. I am waiting for the Fiber to be put in, hopefully soon.

    Finally a comparison between traditional scissor boom arms and the LP arms. I currently have a scissor arm (PSA-1) and it's great because I wanted something that wouldn't clutter my desk *and* obstruct my view; problem is the arm when turned would bump into my monitor every so often and I'd have to sorta of turn or really angle the mic (it's a SM7B). LP arms can come under the monitor or from the side and not be in the way of the monitor!

    I'll share my experience with T-Mobile Home Internet as I've had them for about a year and a half. In short, went back to cable! LOL Yes, T-Mobile speeds are fine in my area. At 3am up until noon (maybe late afternoon) I'd consistently get 300 mbps download and 50 mpbs upload. HOWEVER, its the evening times or prime time hours where I couldn't take it anymore! During those peak times, web pages became sluggish to load and playing Fortnite? Forget about it! Pings are waaaaay to high and often I'd sit there with a frozen screen until T-Mobile caught up. Pings in Fortnite at the late late night hours (3am or early mornings) were an alright 50 ms. Its the even hours were pings were consistently over 100 ms and often hit 1000 ms. Speed tests at these prime time hours were a dismal 15-25 mbps and uploads were 30 mbps! Uploads were consistently faster than downloads at these peak hours! My gawd! If I had large downloads with T-Mobile (like a 30 gb Fortnite update), I'd do them late late at night or early early in the morning. In short, overall, with T-Mobile, I agree with this video. T-Mobile is awesome! I, too, have many devices and am a power user with camera's, etc and constant data in/out all day/all night with no disconnects or device issues. But there is that fluctuation of speeds and ping throughout the day. Its NEVER consistent and the closer you get to dinner time, the worse the speeds and responsiveness will be. After these prime time hours, like I've said, speeds are fast, pings are tolerable (for gaming) and every thing is good! But is this evening time and slow, sluggish speeds why I went back to cable. I need fast/responsive internet 24/7, all hours of the day, not fast and responsive internet when I'm supposed to be sleeping, like with T-Mobile! So I "technically" switched back to cable. But will be back with T-Mobile when my "new customer" promotion expires in a year. Surprisingly, cable still wants to take all your money and give you crap upload speeds. Its like they don't care about their customers or don't consider T-Mobile a threat. With cable, I'm paying $58 for consistent 200 mbps down and 5 mbps up all day all hours of the day, which is important to me. T-Mobile was $50 no taxes/etc so I'm paying $8 more. This cable promotion of $58 is $39.99 for the service and they are charging me $16 for the modem. It lasts a year then the price more than doubles for these basic cable speeds! After the year and the promotion ends, if there is no fiber in the area yet or cable doesn't give me an offer under $60 to stay, back to T-Mobile it is! But yes, depending on your area and "congestion" as T-Mobile likes to call it, you will be de-prioritized as a home internet user and your will notice it during those peak evening hours! Be warned! EDIT: BTW, do NOT forget about weekend use! That is also riddled with "congestion". During the day its hit or miss and the evening hours can be worse than during the week. Again, why I switched back to cable. Its $8 more (for now) but no more worry about "when" should I use the internet? I mean, can you imagine? When? When is it okay for me to "use" the internet??! LOL ;)

    • @TayandKay
      @TayandKay 9 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your input! While I have not been using it as long, I guess luckily for me, I have not ran into congestion issues besides downloads taking a bit longer. Normal use on the internet and phones have not changed one bit and as for gaming, the pings are significantly better than my only other alternative which is Starlink.
